Privacy policy

What we collect

We keep this deliberately minimal. There are three things:

• Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the date, and which page you subscribed from. Nothing else.
• Aggregate page analytics. We count how many times each page is viewed so we know which guides are useful. This is a counter, not a profile.
• Affiliate click counts. When an outbound booking link is clicked we record which link and when, so we can tell which recommendations readers act on.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone.
• We do not run advertising networks or third-party ad trackers on this site.
• We do not build individual behavioural profiles of readers.

Third parties

When you click an affiliate link you leave this site and arrive at a booking partner, who then operates under their own privacy policy and will typically set their own cookies to attribute the referral. We have no control over, and no access to, what they collect. If you would rather not be tracked by them, navigate to the partner directly instead of using our link.

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored in our database and, where configured, passed to our email delivery provider solely to send you the letter.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email. You can also ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely — including your subscription record. We will do it, and we will not ask why. Requests go to hello@thefineaddress.com.

If you are in the UK, EU or EEA, you have these rights under the General Data Protection Regulation. If you are in California, you have comparable rights under the CCPA. We apply the same standard to everyone regardless of where they live, because operating two tiers of privacy would be tedious and slightly shameful.

Cookies

The Fine Address sets a cookie only where one is functionally required — for example, to remember that you have already dismissed the newsletter prompt, or to keep you signed in if you are an administrator of the site. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
